During one of my free weekends I took a trip downtown to see what’s new. I went to one of those shoe shops and there was this really huge mirror on the wall. The humongous piece of glass was placed artistically reflecting the other side of the brick wall which was interspaced with windows and it was lovely. A mirror is of course a reflective surface that reflects a clear image. The image maybe bad or good, ugly or pretty, dark or bright and it all depends on the light that the mirror reflects and the image or thing that the mirror is reflecting. When people look into us, what do they see? We are all mirrors, a reflection of what we think, what we believe, what we surround ourselves, what we behold. Do people see a reflection of good things or character when they see us? Do they see a placid lake maybe or a stormy sea? Do they see healthy living or poor choices? Do they see kindness or cruel intentions? Do they see a reflection of love in us? Do people see a reflection of Jesus in us? The next time we look into a mirror or any kind of surface that reflects our image we can always contemplate about the reflection that our image is giving us, the reflection of ourselves. Are we reflecting the character of Christ in us? Are we reflecting love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control? May we always reflect Christ’s character by fixing our eyes on Jesus for what we behold we become.
